The Forest Watch Program has teamed with EOS-WEBSTER to provide teachers and students with an easily accessible collection of Landsat data. EOS-WEBSTER is a digital library of free Earth Science data, and is based here at UNH.

There are numerous benefits of teaming with EOS-WEBSTER to get the data. One advantage is that it will allow teachers and students to browse and download subsets of Landsat data. Additionally, EOS-WEBSTER is currently in the process of developing an interactive satellite image subsetting tool, which will allow users to customize a Landsat subset based on the satellite data archive available. EOS-WEBSTER also actively adds new satellite data sets to their holdings as they become available, giving users a larger selection of data. Another advantage is that it will provide an opportunity to study other types of Earth Science and climate data that are available through thier program.

We have subset Landsat 7 ETM+ data for all of the Forest Watch schools and posted them on this site. This includes the multipectral, panchromatic, and thermal images for each town. This collection of imagery will be a very valuable resource for performing land cover classifications of your school area.

When you enter the EOS-WEBSTER site you will need to register by choosing the "New Users" button. When you have created an account for yourself, you can choose the "Data" button, which will lead you to a listing of data that the program offers. Among the choices will be the Forest Watch subsets. You will see a Forest Watch icon like the one below, which will bring you to the satellite data.
